I've seen much more risque content on DA. This is just an accurate representation of how Yoko looked in Gurren Lagann.

Heck, I do not even think nudity (Much less partial nudity) should be offensive in most cases as when I was an art student drawing adult naked models was no big deal. (It was practically a requirement for that class)

Let us not even delve into the issue we're here talking about a fictional character and frankly one whom was respectfully portrayed and had decent character growth.

Do people even remember being teenagers themselves? Aka,having a crush on that hawtie in class whom had already developed the right assets and furthermore flaunted them proudly? "Reality" is not this sanitized 100% politically correct construct that always plays by "our" societal norms. It's kinda pathetic that "anime" of all things has to remind us of this!

Lastly, I agree these virtue-signalers should divert their energy into trying to help real human beings in abusive or exploitative situations. Maybe "then" the world around us WOULD become a better place!

nudity in some circumstances is actually allowed on deviantart - they just have hilariously convoluted guidelines on when it is and isn't allowed. for example, you can portray a penis, but it can't be erect, and you can show a vagina, but it can't be "wet". basically, they're hugely sex-averse, probably because they're terrified of losing ad revenue or god knows what. it's stupid.

@rtil Jeh,I forgot about their convoluted policies because I stopped updating my DA account when they limited non-paying non-premium artists to one upload a day. Regardless they have a lot of cognitive dissonance.

Certain "weird kinks" are just fine but any healthy depiction of more straight forward sex is a big no-no! I mean this isn't even overly sexual and they are reee-ing over the supposed age of a fictional person whom only exists in our imaginations. What are they smoking?

Just seems like something they could rectify with better moderation whilst allowing artists to put their own maturity ratings on their own work. At least Newgrounds figured out how to do this practically out of the gate!

Regardless, great Yoko fan-art! DA is so backwards getting in trouble there might as well be a badge of honor at this point!

that's pretty much how i see it. i never have to go back to deviantart and in a way that's a huge relief for me. especially after they launched eclipse, what a horrible re-design.

what do u mean shes a minor, she could just be her older self dressed as her younger self lol

only minors wear scarves apparently

Honestly, good fucking riddance, DeviantArt sucks dick.

@Ducksen @rtil if im being honest, 99% they were mad that you drew nsfw art of an adult version of an underage character instead of drawing nsfw art of the underage version

glad i killed my deviantart account back in 2017, never looked back

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though, considering that Newgrounds also forced SvenStoffels to delete his animation of CoronaChan. Nowhere is really "free" at all.

not the first time newgrounds has deleted something. but it's usually a big deal when it happens, because it rarely ever does.

always love you king

Jesus fucking Christ. You and your art were genuinely, no exaggeration, probably 30% of why I bothered to seek out more cool artists and use that site when I was a kid. Fucking unreal. Sorry they robbed you, but glad they showed you their true colors in the process. I'll follow you to any site you go to. Huge fan for what will soon technically be decades, and can't wait to see what's next for you. Keep kicking ass, dude!

thanks! i have heard a few people who found me through deviantart and it is the first art site i ever posted on so that's a lot of history gone which sucks i guess. but if that's how they're gonna treat me then i want no part of it.

@rtil yeah 100% agreed, if they're gonna selectively, inconsistently trash users based on stupid shit then i'm not interested either—and yeah i've been following your shit for a really long time! your piece Field Signals inspired me to start writing fiction and genuinely might STILL be the most affecting pieces of art i've come across. i don't know what it is about it! that one, and While The World Goes By, and Still With Me and First Flight, so many of your pieces light my mind up with imagining what the world inside of them is like. I hope you do an archive or something of the classic stuff sometime! i have 130 drawings saved but by now that's gotta be a small fraction of everything lol

anyway sorry for the essay just wanted to say hey you're cool as shit and still inspiring to this day and thank you for being cool and making cool stuff. people from the classic era of the internet who don't turn into weird goobers or disappear are becoming few and far between. hope the rest of your month goes good man!

i'm humbled that you remember some of these very old pieces, even their titles. they still mean something to me even if they are old and i could do a lot better now (which is why they're gone now). but yeah i appreciate it and thanks for still supporting me after all this time.

I absolutely despise these things like inflation, vore, pissing/shitting or diapers like god damn people, grow up.

I absolutely despise these things like vore, shitting/pissing, inflation and diapers. It makes me not want to believe in humanity anymore...

great moderation!!

holy shit that's so ridiculous, lmao. sorry you had to go through that, sounds frustrating.

at first it was, but then it just became hilarious.

i would guess its a set of "unhappy individuals" who report you or something - unless something changed on site rules or whatnot

I had registered a deviantART account months ago to post my own art. I submitted something, then i go check the notifications only to see that i've been already been interacted by someone who posts this kind of inflation crap, already, at first sight. After i've saw that, i already stopped posting nor interact with anything.

Art thieves are also everywhere, no matter how moderation attempts to take them all down because there are thousands and thousands still around, and flagging them down would be a nuisance, REAL NUISANCE.

sounds about right

Well, guess I'm here now. Do I get a free cookie? No? Ah, I'll stick around anyway. =P

welcome!

Was trying to give DA the benefit of the doubt at first, maybe there WAS some merit to their accusations, maybe she DOES look kinda young, but then you get to the 'scarf and skull hairpiece' line... well damn. XD Good riddance then.

Must still sting to get kicked off a platform after so long a time, but good to see yer making the most and memery out of it all and all! We're definitely glad to have ya here. I wonder if DA was always like this, once upon a time they seemed... better...

The platform never evolved with the rest of the internet. They're stuck in the mid-2000's, which is ancient history in internet time.

Mmm, design-wise they do give the illusion they're a whole new place since back in the days. :) But maybe it's all superficial difference then.

But then again: this censorship thing seems like a newer thing. I get the impression more so that NG is one of few places that's been honing the balance between artistic freedom and community benefit. That you can come up with creative workarounds like filters as to appease different groups when they start to get offended by specific content. That it's only maybe morally justifiable to limit expression if it's hurtful. Striving to still see the nuances in things; not push people towards the more polarizing approach of definitive right and wrong, or favorism. While other social media platforms are getting all the more hostile and picky about what goes and what doesn't. Maybe just with a goal of surviving in an all the more regulated Internet environment, but I think it works against them...

I feel like our mindsets weren't as shackled back in the day, that control's become the new problem, but at least NG at least kept their head; kept evolving in moderation. Not fixing what wasn't broken, but not stagnating either... feels like a level of change that still manages to incur comfort here. DA not so much.

Considering that DA recently implemented an AI "art" program that scrapes everyone's art without the artists permission, I now think the ban was a blessing in disguise.
