FINALLY SOMEONE AGREE WITH ME!!! Aw, gosh, finally... :D

Love you dogg.

"although to his credit nothing really good has come out recently"

parnassus. although its gilliam so people will probably avoid it on purpose

it's literally playing nowhere

Why do I even post here anymore.

I like how my screenwriting professors feel the same when it comes to CG needing to be used to help a story rather than hide a bad one. One example of CG used as necessary was Forrest Gump.

Therefore, I ought to check out The Lovely Bones.

good question

I liked Avatar. It was above par compared to most crappy popcorn flicks, but I don't want to say its anything special. When people whine about the story, I personally don't think Cameron has ever been about story, deconstruct most of his movies and "Its been done before." Its just that this story has been done too many times before.

I semi agree... i remember leaving the theatre thinking, for a movie he spent this long making and spent that much money producing why did he never bother to make more memorable characters. I mean that evil space marine villain was just absolute trash. He was cliche hick, who was this cartoon evil guy for no real reason. I watched inglorious basterds the other day and the villain of that movie was lush and yes he was evil but not the cliche im gonna take over the world for no real reason... he was just a despicable person that even ends up turning on his own side in the end.

That blue/white logo looks familiar.

Oh aye, it's on the Daicon 4 video.

i like turtles

i completely agree about the plot but a check to wikipedia showed that even with inflation avatar still beat gone with the wind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone_wit h_the_Wind_(film)

$1.45bn adjusted domestic gross, sounds like a win to me. a dollar back then was worth a lot more than it is today

Agreed. Dunno if you'd agree with me but:

I don't like avatar because it earned its "prestige" or "popularity" or whatever you call it through SFX, CG, blue alien fetishes, and SUPERFICIALITIES. Goes to show how the financial flow of entertainment is directly influenced by the YOUNGER age group... (i am implying immaturity here)

I don't understand why movies these days are more about the temporary enjoyment/escapism rather than the timeless classics they could/should be?

Sure, special effects are entertaining. But only the first time through.
Now as for good plot, those can entertain you for a lifetime.

I miss the good old days when more time was spent on the actual storyboarding rather than the visual effects.

It's all about media impact and marketing these days. Throw enough money or exposure at something and it WILL have a following. There are millions of people submissive and ignorant enough to lap up whatever uninspired content is thrown at them. It's quite intricate, actually. I could go on, but even thinking of products that fall into this category - be it films like Avatar or performers like Susan Boyle - give me a headache.

Once again, well done on Lighthouse Girl.

well in truth i couldn't give a crap about the story...

yeh it sucked but the graphics were incredible and i would love to make stuff like that in future design.
that's pretty much the whole reason i saw it.

but good input on the subject.

l8s

hey , saw this on entensity..... all i know is FUCK avatar, it is gay and i agree with adjustments, avatar is no were close to the highest film.

"go see avatat, no movie will be made unless its to this level" oh my fucking god, just stfu avatar is just as much of a "new age" as obama was, fuck.

I was to upset that this wasn't Avatar: The Last Airbender to see it(they used the same font!). The I found out Shyamalan was actually doing that. Oh god.

I dunno, I guess the film didn't bother me that much. I didn't think the story was anything special, but I felt it was acceptable. The part I really liked though was the (almost) full realization of the world. The major part that bugged me is that the aliens weren't multicultural, just one culture and technological level on the whole planet, or so it seemed.

Go animate something cool now.

This is probably the first decent post you made here in a while.
Im glad it's not the usual naive childish whiny irritating bull crap.

But yeah, on topic, people are generaly unhappy and since they are also generally naive and stupid, they thing that the moment they step on pandora all their problems will be resolved, and true happiness and love will be just around the corner.

It's sad really, in a please kill yourself kinnda way, you know what i mean.

"usual naive childish whiny irritating bull crap" = sarcastic post
