I agree. It's sort of like when the camera was invented, realistic painting became obsolete- thus, abstract art emerged. Although realism in art or animation is sometimes appealing, I think that it's too widely embraced right now. With abstraction, not only is there creativity, but it gives the viewer to concentrate more on the message being portrayed. Pixar even had to make some of its animation in Finding Nemo less realistic because it was TOO realistic.

Wow, that looks ace. I think we're doing 3D next year, but I've always been put off by it until recent times. Like you said, people are starting to get a lot more expressive/stylized with it all. Instead of aiming for realistic hair and movement like with Shrek or whatever, I'm seeing some zanier animation and more exaggerated movement come in. It's nice to see : )
I wish we'd have done more animating this semester, I've been stuck in this stupid life-drawing/storyboarding loop when all i want to do is focus on animation/ anyways good luck with it rtil, hope to see some new stuff soon.
