Wow, that looks ace. I think we're doing 3D next year, but I've always been put off by it until recent times. Like you said, people are starting to get a lot more expressive/stylized with it all. Instead of aiming for realistic hair and movement like with Shrek or whatever, I'm seeing some zanier animation and more exaggerated movement come in. It's nice to see : )

I wish we'd have done more animating this semester, I've been stuck in this stupid life-drawing/storyboarding loop when all i want to do is focus on animation/ anyways good luck with it rtil, hope to see some new stuff soon.

well life drawing is very good and it will strengthen your animation .

I agree. It's sort of like when the camera was invented, realistic painting became obsolete- thus, abstract art emerged. Although realism in art or animation is sometimes appealing, I think that it's too widely embraced right now. With abstraction, not only is there creativity, but it gives the viewer to concentrate more on the message being portrayed. Pixar even had to make some of its animation in Finding Nemo less realistic because it was TOO realistic.

I've been catching up on alot of the most recent CGI-fests. while techically stunning, most just play it safe with the script and are totally forgettable in my eyes. I did sort of like Monster Hours though..with its stop motion-ish look and more adult humor at times.

you know, I'm still kind of mystified why you're so against egoraptors style...especially with this most recent love-letter to 2d of yours. He's pretty much paring down animation to its simplest form and has some pretty good comedic timing to go along with all his exaggerated facial expressions and bodily movements that usually fit the tone perfectly. maybe if you played though the metal gear series you could appreciate it more. shame really, i love both your guys work.

SIGH

i was surprised when i saw that movie too... The expressions really felt cartoony. First time ever i liked a 3d movie and i never thought it would be a dr seuss one.

THERE IS A GOD

this is a great pic

DO YOU LIKE ME YET

lmao

I don't think either 2d or 3d is better. They're both just two different mediums, and the effect you're trying to go for should reflect the medium you choose.

they are two different mediums. 3d is a mechanical medium, yet people use it for organic things. it's kind of ironic if you think about it

I go to a belgium school named spt

u seem cool
