Isn't parody a form of Satire? (Seeing that they have one thing in common, they poke fun at things.)
here's how i see it - parody is imitation, satire is ironic. satire tends to divide an audience in where people who think satirists are serious see them as hypocritical or egotistical. look at someone like stephen colbert. if you didn't understand the concepts behind his show you'd think he was serious - and some people do, and they really don't like the guy. his show is a brilliant satire of someone like bill o'reilly - a graceful and witty attack on the ridiculous politics of the united states.
a parody is something more like robot chicken, you take something from pop culture and you mock it. you pick something popular because everyone will get the reference, and you mock it because you think it's funny. the mock is usually light-hearted in that they're often more tributes than attacks.
while parody and satire share similarities, the big difference is that satire often has a message behind it that is laced with irony, exaggeration and biting sarcasm to drive the point home. i find them to be completely different things, especially since newgrounds audiences have complete opposite reactions to the two. metal gear collab - parody - score: 4.3 something. metal gear funnies - satire - score: 1.7 something.

If you're talking about Freetown, of course I'll watch it. That's what I'm waiting for. I'll be checking out any future satires you make too. As shorts like The Nail and TWEEN: A Flash Odyssey prove, you can whip up some damn good piss-takes. Final Fight just wasn't one of them, in my opinion. Definitely looking forward to Freetown and future works though.
