Meh. And where did we get with all this? Nowhere.
It's only a matter of distinguishing between what are you working for, whether it is just messing around, popularity/commerce, or art itself.
This might sound stupid, but I suggest you read a translation of Nikolai Gogol's "Portrait". Try it, out of simple curiosity.

Yeah, you're right...it's a trend, and nothing more. People like to see video games made fun of, and for some reason it wins awards. I think it's pretty tasteless, and what a lot of people don't realize is that people like you (good animation and drawing) and TheSwain, Adam Philips, Granfaloon, etc., what guys like that do is art. At its core, Flash animation is an art, when you take it seriously, and it's a complex, hard art. What Egoraptor does is not art, it's an animated sound track.
There's not much skill, nor creation or even care, and I don't think that things like that should be regarded as highly as they are. It's all about parodies, which are easy as hell to make. It's hard coming up with original content, so making fun of something original takes it's place.
I do ENJOY the movies, but not as much as everyone else seems to, and I can think of so many things which could go in the top 50/100 in place of the awesome movies.
